Overview for Donors
The Shenandoah Community Foundation makes it easy and fun to support your community or your favorite cause, church, or charity, and YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE WEALTHY TO DO IT!
Choose one of the following tax deductible donation options below:
- Give any amount to the general work of the Foundation by sending a check payable to SCF to our mailing address. It will be added to advance the mission of the Foundation in serving Shenandoah County and surrounding areas.
- You can make a donation of any size to any of the Foundation’s existing funds. Take a look at the fund descriptions (See drop-down menu under “SCF Funds”), and we bet you’ll find something that tugs at your heartstrings. Make your check payable to SCF, but be sure you add a note or a memo line entry with the fund name you wish to support.
- To start a named endowment fund of any kind, contact us or see How to Start a Fund.
Q: How much does it take to create a meaningful and permanent income stream?
A: Currently, $10,000 in a fund usually generates between $400 and $500 a year for its intended recipient (a qualified charity or a scholarship recipient). The amount of the distribution is subject to review by the Foundation’s Board of Directors and can change from year to year. When you are unable to make a gift of this size yourself, consider this: the same amount can be raised when 500 people give $20 each, 200 people give $50, 100 people give $100 or 50 people give $200. There’s more than one way to reach your goal! Some of our donors have fund raisers and other events to promote their cause.
