Shenandoah Community Foundation is home to the Bowman-Shannon Cultural Arts Fund, the purpose of which is to educate, guide and stimulate the enjoyment of and participation in cultural arts in Shenandoah County, Virginia.
For this purpose, “cultural arts” includes, but is not limited to, individual and group artistic expressions through drawing, painting, collage, glasswork, pottery and other ceramics, weaving, sculpture, carving, photography, film, video, other digital and electronic media, music theatre, dance, writing, and any other mode or medium of visual, aural, tactile, physical, or written artistic expression, including artistic expression for or by special needs individuals.
Grants from this fund are NOT limited to groups with an arts mission, but can be used by any nonprofit organization for artistic-related activities. For instance, a grant for art supplies might be requested by a daycare center; musical instruments by an afterschool program; or tickets to attend theatrical plays by a senior center. Total available funding is $18,700. Applications are due on or before February 17, and must be completed through the online grant portal. Questions? Call (540) 465-1444.
