Russell B. Adams, Jr.
It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to Russell B. Adams, Jr. who passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023. Russ served as Director of the Shenandoah Community Foundation for six years, and was appreciated for his careful deliberation on matters before the board. Russ established two funds to benefit residents of Fort Valley. One, the Russell Adams Fort Valley Scholarship Fund, which has provided thousands of dollars to students pursuing a college education; and the other, the Russell Adams Fort Valley Museum Fund, that supports the local museum. Both funds are designed to operate in perpetuity, which Russ was fond of saying, “is a long time.” He also shared, “It’s a good feeling to help people. It feels good to know that I will still have an effect on people’s lives long after I’m gone.” Thank you, Russ, on behalf of the Foundation and the community for making a difference in the lives of so many others.
