John C. Copp Scholarship
Established in memory of John C. Copp to provide a scholarship to a Mountain View High School student exhibiting exemplary character and academic achievement.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $3,400
- Selection process: There is no application form. The school’s scholarship committee selects the winner of this scholarship each year.
- Candidate must be a graduating senior from Mountain View in the top 5% of the graduating class.
- Candidates must exhibit honesty, achievement, intelligence, leadership, and academic scholarship.
- Consideration may be given to the amount of scholarship support received from other sources.
SJHS Alumni Scholarship
Established by alums of Stonewall Jackson High School (now Mountain View High School) to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $4,400
- Candidates must be graduating seniors who have attended Mountain View High School for at least six semesters.
In addition, the following factors will be considered:
- Whether a parent attended Mountain View High School (children of alumni get preference)
- Grade point average
- Financial need
- Extra-curricular activities, volunteerism, and work experience
- Official transcript
Brandon Kelly Dawson Memorial Athletic Scholarship
Established by family and friends in memory of Brandon Kelly Dawson to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior athlete from Mountain View High School who exhibits outstanding characteristics of leadership and sportsmanship while maintaining an acceptable grade point average.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $3,800
- Candidates must have been active two or more years in at least two varsity sports programs at the high school.
- Candidates must have demonstrated sportsmanship on and off the field.
- Candidates must have shown a responsible attitude towards academics, preferably with a B average or higher.
- Candidates must have exhibited excellence of character with qualities of leadership.
- Financial need may be considered at the discretion of the selection committee.
Joe Williams Memorial Scholarship
Established by family and friends and local philanthropist Karen Fansler-Ryan in memory of Mount Jackson Mayor Joe Williams to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior from Mountain View High School

SJHS Class of 1963 Scholarship
Established by Tom Fansler and Jim Miller, graduates of Stonewall Jackson High School Class of 1963, to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior from Mountain View High School who will be attending a two- or four-year college or an accredited trade school.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $2,400
- There is no application; recipients are selected by the school’s Scholarship Committee
SJHS Class of 1964 Scholarship
Established by James and Vicki Zerkel to award a scholarship to a graduating senior from Mountain View High School who will be attending a two- or four-year college or an accredited trade school.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $800
- A qualified recipient will have demonstrated a responsible attitude towards academics, preferably with a B average or higher.
- A qualified recipient will have exhibited excellence of character with qualities of leadership.
SJHS Dual Enrollment Fund
Established by Lawrence Lucas Foundation and Stonewall Jackson High School (now Mountain View High School) to provide scholarships for dual-enrollment students.
- Amount of the Award – Not yet established.
Adam Goodier Memorial Music Scholarship
Established by family and friends to provide a scholarship for a graduating senior from Mountain View High School.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $1,000
- Candidates must have shown a responsible attitude towards academics, preferably with a B average or higher.
- Candidates must have demonstrated a sustained interest in music, and will submit an essay, in addition to an application, that reveals the applicant’s love of music.
Bridgebuilder Scholarship
Formerly known as the Highsmith Scholarship Fund, this scholarship was established in 1974 by Al Highsmith, a prominent realtor and developer in the area who wanted to help graduates of MVHS pursue college educations. This scholarship provides a grant for four consecutive years or until the student completes his or her education.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $10,000 ($2,500 per year)
Richard S. Krol Memorial Scholarship
Established in honor of Dick Krol who coached the SJHS “Generals” from 1987 to 2014.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $1,100
- Recipient will have actively participated in MVHS’s athletic program
Joseph R. Lewis Scholarship for the Visual Arts
This scholarship was created in memory of Joseph Robert Lewis to benefit students furthering their education in the field of visual arts.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $1,000
- An annual scholarship will be made to a graduating senior from Mountain View High School who will be attending a two- or four- year college or an accredited trade school, or who was a prior recipient of the scholarship.
- Qualified recipient’s will have an interest in studying visual arts, to include computer graphics and design, will be a primary consideration.
Streett – SJ Family Scholarship
This scholarship will award funds to a qualifying graduating high school senior from Mountain View High School.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $500
- Qualfied recipient must have demonstrated a responsible attitude towards academics, preferably with a B average or higher
- Qualified recipient will have exhibited excellence of character with qualities of leadership and good sportsmanship on and off the field.
- Qualified recipient will have been active for two or more years in at least two varsity sports programs while in high school.
