Shenandoah Scholars Scholarships
Scholarships for graduating seniors from any Shenandoah County public high school, including Triplett Tech. Winners are selected based on character, academic achievement, and school/community involvement.
- Scholarship Amount: Multiple scholarships of $1,000 each
- Application forms are available in each high school’s Guidance Office
Ernie R. Baber Scholarship
This scholarship was established and dedicated to the memory of Ernie R. Baber by his family. Ernie was a 1977 graduate of Central High School and Triplett Tech, where he was enrolled in the Automotive Program.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $1,000
- A qualified recipient must be a graduating Triplett Tech student who will be attending a two- or four-year college or an accredited trade school.
- Recipient will be in good academic standing and have exhibited excellence of character.
- Recipient’s interest in automotive studies will be a primary consideration.
Ginny Peer Nursing Scholarship
Established by Elizabeth Peer Fraim in honor of her sister Ginny Peer to provide scholarships for SCPS students interested in nursing.
- Scholarship Award: 2024 – $1,000
- A qualified recipient must be a graduating high school student with an interest in nursing, who will be attending a 2-4 year college, or a resident of Shenandoah Country seeking additional education to pursue a higher level of nursing certification.
- Recipient will have demonstrated a responsible attitude towards academics, preferably with a B average or higher.
- Recipient will have exhibited excellence of character with qualities of leadership.
Marge Moyers Memorial Scholarship
Established by family and friends in memory of educator Marge Moyers to provide scholarships to Shenandoah County students pursuing a career in Education.
- Scholarship Amount: $2,000 a year for 4 years ($8,000 total)
- Winners must maintain their GPA and continue to pursue a career in education to continue to receive support after their freshman year.
Marge Moyers Memorial Scholarship (vocational)
Established by family and friends in memory of educator Marge Moyers to provide scholarships to Shenandoah County students who will be attending an accredited technical trade or vocational school.
- Scholarship Amount: $2,000 a year for two years ($4,000 total)
Helene Albright Scholarship
Established in memory of Helene Albright to provide scholarships to graduating seniors of Latino heritage.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $3,000
- An annual scholarship is made to a graduating senior of Latino heritage from one of the Shenandoah County public high schools. Latino heritage means having at least one parent recognized as Latino, and Spanish is the native language of that parent’s heritage.
- The winner must be a graduating senior who will be attending a two or four-year college or trade school.
Oliver “Butch” Orndorff Scouting Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Oliver “Butch” Orndorff, Jr. to provide a scholarship for students who have participated in Boy Scouting in Shenandoah County.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $350
- The candidate must be a graduating senior (public, private, or homeschooled) who has been active in the scouting program of a Boy Scouts of America Troop for at least three years and must be a member of a troop located in Shenandoah County in his graduation year.
- The candidate’s academic record must be in good standing and the candidate must be a person who has demonstrated good character.
Russell Adams Fort Valley Scholarship Fund
Established to provide educational scholarships to graduating seniors from the Fort Valley.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $9,000 (scholarship may be split among multiple students)
- Applicant must be a graduating senior (public, private, or home-schooled) who is a resident of the Fort Valley area of Shenandoah County.
- All else being equal, preference is given to students who have at least one parent who grew up in Fort Valley.
- Financial need is considered but will not be the determining factor.
- Applications are available at the Fort Valley Library as well as from the Guidance Office of each public high school and the Foundation.
4-H Dairy Club Scholarship
This fund provides post-high school educational scholarships to 4-H or FFA members in Shenandoah County.
- Amount of Award: Varies
- How to Apply: Application forms are available in the Shenandoah County Extension Office or online HERE. The application includes instructions and deadlines.
Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 936 Scholarship
This scholarship was established for graduating students in Shenandoah County who have an ancestor or relative who was a Vietnam War Veteran.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $1,000
- Students attending public or private schools or who have been homeschooled may apply.
- Candidates will write an essay to accompany their applications.
Sharon and Dennis Lilly Scholarship
This scholarship was established for graduating students who have been active members of a Shenandoah County Club, Council, or Chapter of 4-H and who have exemplified the mottos of “head, heart, hands, and health and “to make the best better.”
- Amount of the Award – 2024 – $1,400
- Students attending public or private schools or who have been homeschooled may apply.
- Candidates will write an essay to accompany their applications.
Jason A. Long Flight to Success Scholarship
Jason A. Long, CHS Class 1997
Established by family and friends in memory of Jason Long to provide scholarships to encourage students pursuing an interest in running.
- Scholarship Amount: 2024 – $2,150
- Candidates must have participated in the school’s cross country or track program for at least their senior year.
- Candidates must be planning to attend college and plan to be participating in that school’s intercollegiate cross country track program.
- Candidates must be in good academic standing.
- Candidates must have demonstrated good character and sportsmanship.
- Financial need may be considered. The award does not have to be annual if there is deemed to be no qualified candidate.
Youth Aviation Support
Grants are also awarded from this Fund to “youth aviation organizations” that are IRS-qualified nonprofit organizations that introduce young people in the Shenandoah Valley to the experience of flight.
